The third team were once again at Coronation, this time to take on Boxted. Boxted won the toss and chose to field. A lot of work has been completed on the Coronation pitch meant it has become more batter friendly and not a worry when put in to bat.
Felixstowe had a poor start to the game with Boxted taking three early wickets to leave the team 8-3, Jonathan Shipley, Keiran O'Reilly and Marcus Rose all falling for single figure scores. The standalone and standout innings for Felixstowe came from Jonny Jacobs who hit 13 boundaries on the way to 98* and desperately unlucky not to hit his first ever hundred, a fine performance none the less. Supported by Connor Burrows (23) and Pat Donnelly 16* allowed Felixstowe to reach 180-7 which they would have snapped your hands off at 8-3 and a score which is very defendable if you bowl well at Coronation.
The pick of the Boxted bowlers were Charlie Harris who bowled 9 overs, 3-28 and Paul Harris, 8 overs, 1-9, both openers caused Felixstowe trouble over their spells and helped restrict the team.
Felixstowe opened the bowling with the ever reliable Pat Donnelly and Michael Dowling who both took early wickets with 4 of the top 6 all falling for single figure scores. The disappointment for Felixstowe and another standalone performance with the bat was Garry Green who hit 108 runs with 16 fours and 2 sixes allowing Boxted to get home in 35 overs with 4 wickets remaining. An opportunity missed for Felixstowe had they got Garry earlier with no other real contributions from the batting line up, a real opportunity missed for victory, a fantastic innings nonetheless.
The third team are back in action at Coronation as they welcome Nacton 2nd team hopeful to be winners next time around.
